Established by Andrew Ripp and Ethan Hulse, Holly Street Records was formed to assist a friend in her quest for an album marking her return after a two-decade hiatus. Yes, you heard it right, it had been twenty years since Rachel Lampa had released a song to radio! As the world was in the middle of a shutdown, Lampa, Ripp, and Hulse found themselves in a small group together along with their families as they navigated the pandemic together. Conversations with Lampa during this time seemed to center on the significance of grounding her identity in truth and how this was guiding her toward a life of freedom. As a result, the song “Perfectly Loved” came flying out, and the path became clear; Ripp and Hulse would serve as the Label, accompanying Lampa along a journey reminiscent of the one Ripp had taken with his breakthrough song "Jericho" the year prior. Jericho is a song that Ripp and Hulse wrote and recorded together in 2019. Independently, Ripp brought the song to radio with the help of Boxer Poet (Andrea Kleid and AJ Strout) and Chris Hauser. The song reached #1 on both Mediabase and Billboard and blazed the trail for a new kind of radio pursuit. It has been said that this was the first time in the CCM world a song had reached #1 independently. "Perfectly Loved" followed in succession, reaching the top of the Mediabase chart and winning a KLOVE Breakout Single of the Year award in 2022. Amid these chart-topping endeavors, Hulse was busy writing countless hits for other artists in the CCM genre, becoming the first Christian music songwriter to win the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI)'s Songwriter of the Year award. The partnership between Ripp and Hulse has resulted in three #1 songs and several top tens all in a matter of three years. When asked what the goal is for the future they both agree on one common aim. “So long as we’re having fun we’re probably heading in the right direction. Here’s to whatever comes next!”
